BUTTERFLIES

Game, Set, Match

Spoiler free review | It all started when I watched Wimbledon this year. In 5 hours I was hooked, learned a game I hadn't played for 10 years and bought a book that changed everything. If you google "Books About Tennis," only one main player comes up; Carrie Soto is Back.

First of all, this book reads like butter. There were times when I really wondered if I wasn't watching a TV series because the book read so well. I think the reason is that Taylor Jenkins Reid writes fiction to reality. Her writing skills are so convincing that I thought Carrie really existed, but she did not. She is a combination of several major players and the worst of us all. And because Reid takes you from the beginning of her life to her canon, the book feels like you are living through Carrie's eyes.

I would recommend this book 10 times out of 10 to anyone. Literally anyone, even a stranger on the street who hasn't asked me for a book - I would recommend it to anyone. The book contains everything modern fiction should contain; feminism, female empowerment, humor, tragedy and a badass protagonist.

Three things you will need to know before reading this book.

1. It's about tennis, of course. But you don't necessarily have to understand the game, because it is explained again in the book. From the point of view of Carrie Soto herself, you will learn all about the legendary Xavier Soto (her father).

2. Carrie is no average tennis girl. She is an angry, challenge-hungry sports legend, and she is back. With that, she brings challenge back to a game that has long since been turned into another world since her retirement. Her firepower is enough to blow away any man in the sport.

3. The book contains some romance, but it is not the main one. And that is just as well, because even if you are looking for romance, this book will satisfy you. It is real and it is beautiful. That's all I'm going to tell you.

Whether you are looking for a good romantic fiction book that will make you laugh or one that will bring you to the edge of your seat and make you cry, this book has it all. I was so incredibly happy to give another book 5 stars! That's why I put Carrie Soto is back at the top of my list of recommendations.

A written hug,

from Daniëlla
